International wines and spirits companies in Singapore offer a helping hand to the F&B sector in times of need
With challenging times faced by the F&B community in Singapore, the European Chamber of Commerce Wine and Spirits Committee teams up with Montfort Care and key on-trade partners to support the physical and mental well-being of its front-liners.
Singapore, 11th May 2020
Through the European Chamber of Commerce in Singapore (EuroCham Singapore), international wine and spirits companies Bacardi, Edrington, Gruppo Campari, Moët-Hennessy Diageo, Pernod Ricard, Rémy Cointreau and William Grant & Sons have today launched the ‘Together In Spirits’ campaign to provide free meals and mental health support to F&B staff as Singapore’s Circuit Breaker continues and the city’s restaurants and bars remain closed.
Life during the Circuit Breaker can be challenging, with many of us concerned over our livelihoods, worried about how best to cope away from family and friends, or even thinking about how to support our families at home. ‘Together In Spirits’ looks to do its part to ease the burden currently faced by F&B front-liners by providing practical community-based support in two key areas: mental and physical well-being.
Recognising that many front-liners have been hard hit financially during this period, ‘Together In Spirits’ will be offering free meals. These will be offered by selected outlets where F&B employees will be able to access two free meals a day.
In partnership with Montfort Care, the campaign will also be providing F&B front-liners access to free-of-charge mental health consultations. These services have been generously offered in-kind by the teams at Montfort Care and are open to any employee of the F&B industry who may be experiencing mental strain during this trying period.
Free mental health consultations will be provided until the end of July while free meals will be running initially for a 3-week period from the 11th May and will continually assessed thereafter based on the needs and requirements of the F&B community.
Chairman of the EuroCham Wine & Spirits Committee, Mr. Cedric Retailleau, highlights the importance of ensuring the industry is strengthening its community-based support during this period:
“As an industry, we want to support our front-liners who are the lifeblood of Singapore’s F&B community. We hope that the campaign ‘Together In Spirits’ will not only be a step in the way to supporting them today, but also when we transition to recovery where our front-liners will be crucial to reviving the city’s bars and restaurants.”
Founder and CEO of Montfort Care, Mr. Samuel Ng said:
“The food and beverage industry has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, and their stakeholders are experiencing the impact more than most. We are glad to partner with EuroCham Wine & Spirits Committee in providing counselling services to the F&B community. During such trying times, ‘Together In Spirits’ is a great initiative to show solidarity for the hardest-hit groups in our midst, and we are delighted to be part of this meaningful project where we can lend a helping hand.”
