Between 10 and 11 July 2018, Executive Director Ms Nele Cornelis represented the voice of European companies in Singapore during two meetings on the EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (EUSFTA) in the EU parliament
in Brussels, Belgium.
The first meeting on 10 July was with the International Trade Mark Association (INTA) on the EUSFTA. The session included an analysis made by the EU Parliament on the trade agreement and also a presentation by the Directorate-General for External Policies to Members of Parliament (MEPs) on the potential impact of the EUSFTA for the whole economy.
The second meeting on 11 July was an in-camera meeting where Ms Cornelis, representing EuroCham Singapore, had the opportunity to exchange views with the MEPs on the economic aspects of the FTA, (IPA) and employers’ perspective with the Parliament’s monitoring group for Singapore. The presentation featured facts on Singapore and ASEAN combined with anecdotal testimonials of the European companies in Singapore, multi-national corporations and Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) on how they could benefit from the FTA.
