Singapore and the European Union are negotiating a binding digital economy agreement, which covers digital identity, electronic bills of lading and data privacy.
Minister of Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong hopes that the Singapore-EU Digital Economy Agreement will be finalized as soon as possible and become a “path-finder”, which will not only serve as a model for future agreements to be signed, but also apply to agreements that Singapore has signed with other countries before.
Gan Kim Yong attended the Digital Economy White Paper launch ceremony of the European Chamber of Commerce in Singapore (EuroCham) on Tuesday (October 17). He made the above comments during a fireside chat.
