
Synopsis
During this session, we will have the privilege to welcome Herry Cho, Head of Sustainability & Sustainable Finance at SGX. Ms. Cho will be presenting on the ambitions of the Exchange on Sustainable Finance such as the SGX FIRST Platform for sustainability initiatives and the newly announced Singapore Carbon Exchange. It will be followed by a panel gathering of leaders of the Industry to discuss these recent announcements and the establishment of Singapore as a major sustainability hub for Asset Management.

Ms Herry Cho
Managing Director, Head of Sustainability and Sustainable Finance
Singapore Exchange (SGX)
Ms Herry Cho joined Singapore Exchange (SGX) as Managing Director, Head of Sustainability and Sustainable Finance on 8 February 2021. She drives SGX’s sustainability and sustainable finance strategic direction and implementation, with the aim of transforming SGX and its ecosystem into a world-class, trusted multi-asset sustainable exchange.
Ms Cho pioneered in the development of Asia Pacific’s sustainable finance markets, in her former role as the Head of Sustainable Finance APAC at ING Bank N.V. from 2017. There she led the origination and execution of sustainable finance transactions including green/social/sustainability bonds and loans, and delivered sustainability advisory to key clients. Furthermore, she shaped the international market standards having served on the Executive Committee Board of the International Capital Market Association (ICMA)’s Green/Social/Sustainability Bond Principles, was the sustainability lead on ICMA’s APAC regional committee and on the Loan Market Association’s Green Finance Committee.
Ms Cho leverages a broad financial background having previously worked for almost decade in Mergers and Acquisitions Advisory, Capital Structuring and Advisory, and Equity & Debt Capital Markets. Currently based in Singapore, Ms Cho has previously worked in Hong Kong, London and Amsterdam.
Ms Cho holds a combined Bachelors and Masters (MBioch) Degree in Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry from the University of Oxford, UK.

Ms Shilpa Gulrajani

Shilpa Gulrajani is currently the Head of Business Development and Strategy for Southeast Asia, BNP Paribas, based in Singapore.
In her current role, Shilpa is responsible for developing the BNP Paribas franchise and strategy. Sustainable finance development and engagement forms a core component of her role. Shilpa also represents the Bank on Singapore/ASEAN Taxonomy – an initiative by MAS. Shilpa is also a member of the Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition (CPLC) Advisory Group.
Shilpa had also worked in Hong Kong within the Investment Banking division of the Bank, prior to which she has spent a decade with the Bank in India across roles. Prior to BNP Paribas, Shilpa was with Citigroup in India.
Dr Michael Urban, PhD
Senior Sustainability Analyst
Lombard Odier
Dr Michael Urban is a Senior Sustainability Analyst at Lombard Odier (LO). He joined LO’s Sustainable Investment Research, Strategy and Stewardship (SIRSS) team in 2020. Michael works across the SIRSS team’s work streams with a particular focus on translating sustainability R&D into integration and investment strategy across asset classes. Michael is also a part-time Research Associate at the University of Oxford’s Centre for the Environment and a senior member of St Peter’s College.
Prior to joining LO, Michael was a Research Associate at the University of Oxford’s Centre for the Environment where he led several research initiatives as part of a European Research Council-funded project titled “Finance and Development in the 21st Century” (2017-2020). He is also a co-author of the world’s first Atlas of Finance, to be published by Yale University Press in 2021. Michael has held various teaching positions at the University of Oxford and Bristol University and worked at Pictet & Cie, where he covered thematic and SRI equities funds.
Michael holds a BSc in Management from HEC Lausanne, an MSc in Environment, Politics and Globalization from King’s College London and a PhD in Economic Geography from the University of Oxford.
Mr Stephan Pouyat

Stephan Pouyat is Global Head of Capital Markets and Funds Services at Euroclear. The Capital Markets business represents €33 trillion of assets under custody across the group, while the Funds Services business represents approximately €1 trillion.
Stephan is a trusted advisor to Ministers of Finance, Governors and Deputies, including the Heads of Debt Management and various regulatory bodies. He is a highly regarded speaker in the industry and leads discussions with various senior-level government officials, with the objective of implementing solutions that help to increase market liquidity, resulting in a stronger macroeconomic climate and financial stability.
In this capacity, his business unit’s fundamental role is to promote financial market inclusion, social responsibility and provide operational excellence in all global markets in which it operates, focusing specifically on 28 emerging economies and their local debt capital markets expansion and funds services requirements. The free and efficient flow of capital brings benefits to all, from the promotion of financial reform and social development to the development of new mechanisms that aid market advancement. In an increasingly interconnected world, local market success is predicated on their ability to secure capital flows and investment in physical and social infrastructure.
Stephan has also held a number of senior positions within Euroclear in product management, network management, chief of staff to the UK and Dutch CEOs, corporate restructuring and corporate strategy.
Prior to joining Euroclear, Stephan was employed by Federated Investors as vice president for e-commerce, where he developed a web-based settlement engine. He has a Master’s degree from both Eurecom and Polytechnique Lausanne (Switzerland) and has completed an Executive Program at Harvard Business School.
