Transformative Sustainovation Trends in Transportation Sector

January 16, 2025 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Synopsis

The transportation sector is experiencing a significant transformation as it is confronted by growing consumer awareness about the environmental impact of carbon emissions and increasingly stringent sustainability regulations. Featured in the EuroCham Sustainovation Whitebook 2024, the position paper “Transformative Sustainovation Trends in the Transportation Sector” underscores how these pressures are reshaping industry dynamics, pushing businesses to reimagine traditional practices and adopt sustainability as a core strategic imperative.

At this panel, we invite industry leaders, sustainability practitioners, and stakeholders to an insightful event exploring the challenges and opportunities within this rapidly evolving landscape. Participants will gain valuable insights into the regulatory frameworks driving sustainability efforts, the innovative technologies enabling lower emissions and greener fleets, and the critical integration of carbon management into corporate financial strategies. The session will also emphasise the importance of cross-sector collaboration in advancing sustainable transportation solutions.

This discussion aims to offer insights into how industry leaders are planning for the future of sustainable mobility, addressing the growing demand for low-carbon solutions while navigating an increasingly complex regulatory environment.

POST EVENT

On 16 January, EuroCham Singapore organised a thought-provoking panel discussion as part of the Sustainovation Whitebook 2024 launch, focusing on the “Transformative Sustainovation Trends in the Transportation Sector.” Thank you to Continental for hosting us.

We would like to express our gratitude to the speakers, our keynote speaker and moderator Mr Vivek Vaidya (Frost & Sullivan), and our panellists, Mr Wee shann Lam (Land Transport Authority (LTA) Singapore), Mr Yaw Chek Chee (DHL Express) and Mr Adrian Leonardi (Continental) who explored how innovation and collaboration are shaping the future of sustainable mobility.

The panel highlighted that sustainability solutions are not always more costly; while upfront investments may be higher, they often yield long-term benefits like lower operating costs and enhanced efficiency. Emphasis was placed on standardisation and cross-sector collaboration to scale impactful solutions effectively. Singapore’s ambitious goal to reduce transportation emissions —as the country’s third-largest carbon-emitting sector—is supported by initiatives such as public transport promotion, hybrid and EV adoption, and investments in green fleets. Aligning corporate strategies with regulations, integrating carbon management, and leveraging innovation were underscored as critical to advancing sustainable mobility.

Thank you to everyone who joined and made this event possible.
