Asia Director, AgFunder and GROW
John is the Asia Director of AgFunder and GROW Accelerator, on a mission to advance innovation and sustainability across the food system. Prior to joining AgFunder, John spent over a decade in investment banking and is an advocate for a more impact-focused approach to capital allocation.
In addition to serving on the AgFunder investment team, John is an angel investor in several agrifood tech ventures ranging from alternative protein to consumer marketplace.
Originally from Hawaii, John studied in the UK, and is a graduate of Cornell University. He now lives in Singapore with his wife and children. He is a Singapore Citizen.
Head of Partnerships (Europe), Eco-Business
Liling is the Head of Partnerships for Europe at Eco-Business, an independent media and business intelligence company dedicated to sustainable development and ESG performance which owns the award-winning news platform – Eco-Business.com. The platform publishes high quality trusted news and views in multimedia formats on business and policy developments around the world with a focus on sustainability and the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Prior to joining Eco-Business, Liling founded and managed an online marketplace enabling businesses to lease or rent short-term commercial space.
Currently based in Switzerland, she loves dogs and nature, and is passionate about SDGs 1 and 2 – No Poverty and Zero Hunger.
Joshua Soo is the CEO of GROW, Southeast Asia’s first impact accelerator dedicated to agrifoodtech that is backed by AgFunder and supported by Enterprise Singapore. At heart, Joshua is a creative innovation strategist and human-centred designer who is passionate about scaling new ventures and business models to help shape a sustainable and resilient agrifood system. Throughout his career, Joshua has been part of founding teams where he built and scaled businesses and teams ground up.
Prior to GROW, he was a Director at a boutique innovation company and has demonstrated experience working with start-ups, corporates and governments to uncover growth opportunities and future proof themselves. He has 10 years of consulting experience in Australia focusing on innovation, leadership development, culture and change across several sectors including Healthcare, Pharmaceutical, Disability Services, Property/Construction and Transport.
Lead Global Connections, FoodValley NL
Jeroen Wouters, PhD, is Lead Global Connections at FoodValley NL. In this role, Jeroen provides guidance and support to accelerate innovation and cooperation in food and nutrition. Jeroen joined the team of FoodValley NL in 2014. FoodValley NL is a non-profit agrifood innovation cluster based in the Netherlands that acts as a catalyst for the transition to a sustainable food system.
In addition, Jeroen is Innovation Manager Sports and Nutrition at the Dutch Olympic Training Centre Papendal (www.papendal.nl), The Netherlands. In this role Jeroen coordinates, stimulates and facilitates research and innovation in the field of sports and nutrition. Within this role Jeroen is Director of Eat2Move, the hub for
innovation in sports and nutrition (www.eat2move.nl).
Jeroen is active in food innovation management for his entire career. He is a food technologist by training (Wageningen University) and obtained his PhD in food microbiology at Wageningen University and NIZO food research, The Netherlands. Jeroen subsequently worked at NIZO food research where he has held management positions in the areas of food fermentation, food safety, flavour, health and nutrition.
