Keynote Speaker and Panellist

Ms Anca Vasilescu
Managing Director – Capital Markets, Financial Services

Seasoned international executive, with 20+ years of financial services experience gained at top tier investment banking, wealth managers and securities exchange clients across Europe, US and Asia. Anca is currently Managing Director for Financial Services at Accenture and leads the FS Multinational Clients portfolio, based in Singapore. She also leads Accenture’s Growth Markets Commerce Practice for Service Providers (across LATAM, SEA, Japan, ANZ). Prior to moving to Singapore, Anca led Accenture’s Capital Markets Practice for UK and Ireland. With her strong finance background, she has deep knowledge of financial products and operating models and specializes in shaping and developing innovative solutions to help C-suite clients navigate sometimes unchartered territory.

Anca is passionate about Inclusion&Diversity and leads Accenture’s Growth Markets I&D initiatives. She brings a wealth of diverse experience from her international profile having lived and worked in several countries. She fluently speaks several languages and has always embraced diversity as a source of strength and growth. She always applies a mentality of inclusiveness, as well as disruptive innovation to her clients as well as her teams.




Ms Shweta Shukla
Senior Director – Strategy, Corporate Affairs & Sustainability at Unilever International
Board Director at Unilever Asia

Shweta has over 23 years of experience in spearheading Corporate Affairs & Communications in prominent FMCG Companies Unilever, Procter & Gamble, Kimberly Clark and Kellogg. Over two decades, she has honed her expertise in Corporate & Brand Communications, Government Affairs & Advocacy, Sustainability & Social Impact, Issues & Crisis Management, Executive & Employee Communications, in roles spanning local, regional and global scopes. Shweta’s passion lies in leveraging business and its stakeholders as a positive force, creating a profound impact on business, society and the planet.

Shweta’s involvement extends to membership in the Singapore Alliance for Actioning Corporate Purpose (AFACP), the Advisory Board of the World Toilet Organization, and speaking engagements at industry-leading forums such as the Stewardship Asia Center, National University of Singapore, Singapore Management University and UNGC Singapore. Her white paper on “Keeping Girls in School” was presented at the World Congress for Women’s Health and published by the University of Pennsylvania. Within the industry, Shweta has held notable positions such as Co-Chair Public Affairs Committee at Food Industry Asia, Supervisory Board Member EU ASEAN Business Council, Member of Women’s Committee AMCHAM and served as a Jury member for PR Week, Holmes SABRE & Spikes Asia Awards. Most recently, Shweta was awarded the Individual Achievement SABRE by PRovoke Media, listed one of PR Week’s Top 500 Communications Heads and her team was recognized with the Public Affairs Gold Award for the “Best In-House” team.

Shweta earned her MBA in Advertising & Communications from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (Mumbai, India) and completed the Business Sustainability Management program from the University of Cambridge.


Ms Samantha Thian
Senior Sustainability Manager APAC & MEA

Samantha Thian is the Senior Manager for Sustainability in Electrolux APAC & MEA. She is working on Electrolux’s Sustainability Goals, For The Better 2030 as part of her work in the business area. She graduated from the National University of Singapore with her Masters in Environmental Management, and Bachelors in Business Administration.

Her work has been recognized through various organizations, such as the National Environment Agency for the 15th NEA EcoFriends award in 2022. She had the privilege to represent Singapore at the Y20 Climate Change Delegation for G20 2023 in India and received the Forbes 30U30 Award for Social Impact Asia in 2023.


Ms Azmar Sukandar
Head of Communications & Society, Asia Pacific

Azmar Sukandar is a strategic communications leader with 20 years of experience in building and managing reputation for global brands. As the Head of Communications, Asia Pacific, she is based in Singapore and spearheads Diageo’s regional corporate communications agenda, with a focus on progressing key business objectives and the company’s Society 2030: Spirit of Progress ESG ambitions.

Before joining Diageo, Azmar led regional communications efforts for The Nature Conservancy, a global environmental NGO. Prior to that, she played a crucial role in establishing the Asia Pacific communications office for the Financial Times. Azmar also gained valuable experience during her tenure with Time and FORTUNE magazines, as well as Microsoft’s MSN division.

Azmar holds degrees in International Relations and Communications from Boston University, along with a Master’s degree in Media and Communications from the London School of Economics. A founding board member of the Asia Pacific Association of Communication Directors (APACD), a regional network of senior in-house communications professionals, she is passionate about fostering knowledge exchange and promoting the advancement of the communications and public affairs community.




Ms Zsofia Balatoni

Zsofia is a communication professional with 20+ years of experience in strategic communications and ESG communication. Rothman & Roman is a multiple European Excellence award and SABRE award winner agency. Their offices are to be found in 4 European capitals, Boston and Singapore. Their award winning campaigns for MNCs focus on social and environmental responsibility based on brand purpose.  They are passionate to help companies create value for their consumers and stakeholders – by becoming part of the solution for social and environmental problems.

On 8th November, EuroCham Singapore organised a panel discussion on “Responsibility and Sustainability at the workplace – how to talk about ESG?”. Thank you to Ms Zsofia BALATONI, Mr Chip Keng Ng, Mr Tashan Kassey Kalleichelven and the team at Rothman & Roman Group for hosting us at their beautiful office.

We are honoured to have had the opportunity to organise an all-woman panel – thank you to Ms Anca Vasilescu (Accenture), Ms Shweta Shukla (Unilever), Ms Azmar Sukandar (Diageo) and Ms Samantha T. (Electrolux Group) for inspiring not only women but the whole audience with invaluable insights and sharing of projects your companies are involved in.

Following a keynote presentation by Ms Anca Vasilescu, our moderator, Ms Zsofia Balatoni (Rothman & Roman), masterfully led a very vibrant discussion. Studies (Porter Novelli, 2021) show that more than 85% of consumers would buy products from purpose-driven companies and nearly 80% of employees would prefer to work for purpose-driven companies. That shows that ESG communication, internal and external, is key to achieving business goals with social goals, making the businesses more sustainable. The panellists agreed it all starts with great leadership and that companies should have sustainability practices embedded in all their activities rather than just an add-on. Drawing inspiration from the words of Ms Anca Vasilescu, instead of forcing humans to be more sustainable, let’s work together to make sustainability more human.
