On the 22nd of June 2016, the Regional Trade Committee, along with the Financial Services Committee, will host a Closed-door industry consultation regarding “The Implementation of the EU-Singapore FTA: Issues, Challenges and To-Do Items for Singapore”.
While waiting for the Court case on the EU’s competence to ratify the EUSFTA, the EU Commission has launched a process of legal analysis and review of the Agreement and the identification of all actions that Singapore must take to implement the EUSFTA. The goal is to enable the European Commission to better track the implementation process with a view of ensuring that Singapore takes all the necessary steps needed to abide by its obligations.
A team of consultant has been charged to draft a report to this effect and, besides the desk work, they will also gather views and input from relevant stakeholders.
To this effect, EuroCham is the main interlocutor from the EU business side.
As such, this closed-door round-table feedback session will be a crucial element for the successful implementation of the EUSFTA.
This meeting is for EuroCham Members only.
