On 9 March the EuroCham Packaging & Sustainability Committees will organise a joint site visit to the Senoko Waste-to-Energy Plant.
About this Senoko WTE:
Senoko Waste-to-Energy Plant (Senoko WTE Plant) is the third waste incineration plant built in Singapore and is one of four incineration plants currently operating. It was commissioned in 1992 with a land area of 7.5 ha. It is equipped with six incinerator-boiler units with two condensing turbine-generators offering a power generation capacity of 2 x 28 MW. Waste incineration is carried out at the plant 24 hours a day throughout the year. The plant is the only waste incineration facility located outside of the Tuas area (which is in the western part of Singapore) and this positions it to serve the eastern, northern and central areas of the country.
Programme:
Session I: Briefing and Video Show – Conference Room (25 mins)
Overview on solid waste incineration process of the plant
Session II: Sight/Smell Tour (35 mins)
Visitors will get to see and have a close-up encounter at the following places:
a) Refuse Crane Control Room – To view the feeding of refuse into the hopper
b) (Subjected to availability) Central Control Room – Explore the nerve centre of the Plant to better understand the control and monitoring of the equipment and processes in the plant
c) Conference Room – Return to the foyer outside Conference Room to view photographs of the plant during its construction stage and followed by Q&A session in the conference room.
PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEOGRAPHY ARE STRICTLY NOT ALLOWED IN THE PLANT.
This event is only open to members of the EuroCham Packaging and Sustainability Committees.
