Synopsis
The Workplace Fairness Legislation (WFL) is a new legal framework designed to uphold fair treatment in the workplace by preventing discriminatory practices based on non-job-related factors such as age, gender, race, religion, or disability. It seeks to promote merit-based recruitment and ensure that all employees and job seekers are evaluated fairly. The legislation also introduces clear guidelines for employers on how to implement fair employment practices and provides more robust protections for workers, strengthening Singapore’s commitment to a diverse and inclusive workforce.
This insightful event will provide an in-depth exploration of the upcoming legislation and its impact on recruitment practices. Organised in collaboration with the Tripartite Alliance for Fair and Progressive Employment Practices (TAFEP), the discussion aims to equip businesses with knowledge of the changing legal landscape, helping them foster inclusive hiring and comply with anti-discrimination measures.
HR professionals and business leaders who are keen to stay ahead of regulatory changes and ensure their organisations foster a culture of fairness and inclusivity will benefit from joining this event.

POST EVENT
On Wednesday, 19 February, EuroCham’s Human Development Committee organised an engaging workshop on “Overview of Workplace Fairness Legislation (WFL) and Fair Employment Practices with Tripartite Alliance for Fair and Progressive Employment Practices (TAFEP)”
Our sincere gratitude to our distinguished speakers—Mr Jason Chan (TAFEP Tripartite Alliance for Fair and Progressive Employment Practices) and Mr Sebastian Blasius (Gateway Law Corporation)—for sharing their expertise on the evolving workplace fairness landscape and its impact on businesses.
The discussion provided key insights into the Workplace Fairness Legislation (WFL), a new legal framework designed to prevent workplace discrimination based on “protected characteristics” such as age, gender, race, religion, or disability. Our speakers explored how the legislation promotes merit-based recruitment, strengthens employee protections, and introduces clear guidelines for fair employment practices.
Participants also engaged in a thought-provoking fireside chat, raising critical questions on how businesses can align current practices with the new legal requirements. Practical protocols for compliance, grievances management and fostering inclusive hiring strategies were also discussed.
Thank you to all our attendees for joining this important conversation. We look forward to welcoming you to our next session as we continue to navigate the evolving employment landscape together.
