Synopsis

EuroCham is hosting a Breakfast Talk exploring investment opportunities in Vietnam, focusing on green financing.

This event will feature experts from various domains, including those familiar with the Vietnamese investment landscape, representatives from banking institutions, and corporate leaders with established operations in Vietnam. Experts will dive into Vietnam’s business landscape, spotlight its benefits for investors, and guide businesses on leveraging challenges to their advantage. As Vietnam targets COP26 and its 2021-2030 Green Growth Strategy, we will discuss its green finance role. Attendees can anticipate rich insights on best practices, strategies for green financing, and the potential of projects spanning manufacturing, energy, green infrastructure, entrepreneurship, and innovation – all aligned with Vietnam’s green growth aspirations.

Mr Ramakrishna Pataballa
Managing Director and Head, Project Finance & Advisory
BNP Paribas

Ramakrishna Patabella (Ramki )is the Managing Director and Head of Project Finance & Advisory at BNP Paribas. He is a career banker with more than 20 years of experience in project finance. Trained as an engineer, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Andhra University College of Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Engineering from Guindy College.

 

Dr Claus Rettig
Regional President
Evonik Asia Pacific

Dr Claus Rettig is the regional president of Evonik Asia Pacific since July 1st, 2022. As a member of the extended executive board of Evonik Industries AG with general power of attorney, Dr Rettig is responsible for driving the company’s growth plan in Asia and making sure that Evonik is present on the ground with modern production and a strong research and development footprint.

With extensive experience in the international chemical markets and deep knowledge about the chemical industry in Asia, Dr Rettig has played a pivotal role in realizing several strategic investments in the region.

Dr Rettig, who holds a doctorate in chemistry, began his career in Hüls AG, one of Evonik’s predecessor companies in 1987. He worked in South Africa and Japan respectively to oversee business strategies and operations for the company. In 2003, he returned to Germany as the President of the former Degussa Care Specialties Business Unit and continued with various executive roles. In 2015, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Management Evonik Resource Efficiency GmbH, before moving to his role in 2020 as the President of the Smart Materials division of Evonik.

 

Mr Eduardo Karlin
General Manager – Asia Pacific, Mainstream Renewable Power Asia Holdings
Chair of the Sustainability Committee, European Chamber of Commerce

Eduardo is the General Manager for the Asia Pacific region of Mainstream Renewable Power, a leading global renewable energy player headquartered in Ireland and an Aker Horizons company. He joined the Asia Pacific team in 2020 and took up the responsibility for Mainstream’s business development and expansion in the region in June 2021.

Previously, he was part of the Group’s Central Commercial team. He has worked in the renewable energy sector since 2010, with a focus on business development and project finance transactions in emerging markets. To date, he has closed more than 4,000 MW (gross), with cumulative deal values in excess of USD 1 billion in South America, Southern Africa and Asia Pacific.

Eduardo holds a BSc in International Economics from Universita’ Bocconi (Italy), an MA in International Studies from the University of Vienna (Austria).

Mr Jens Rübbert
Managing Director & Regional Head for Asia/Pacific of LBBW
President of European Chamber of Commerce, Singapore

Jens has been a senior banker for 33 years and has 20 years of experience in the Asian financial market. Currently, he is the Managing Director & Regional Head for Asia/Pacific of LBBW, one of Germany’s largest banks. Previously, Jens was with Deutsche Bank for 27 years in several senior positions across various regions including Germany, Turkey, Hong Kong, Singapore, China and Vietnam.

He has also held positions as Vice Chairman of EuroCham China (2011 – 2014), Chairman of GBA Vietnam, (2015 – 2017), Chairman of EuroCham Vietnam (2017), and President of the Singaporean-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (2020 – 2023). Jens is the current Chairman of the EU-ASEAN Business Council. He holds a degree in business administration and was awarded Germany’s Federal Order of Merit in 2021.
