The Human Development Committee will hold a in-person meeting on the Unilever Campus on the topic of
“New Ways of Working with the Post-Pandemic Workforce”.
The Covid pandemic has accelerated new ways of working beyond not coming to an office every day. Singapore has been at the forefront in adopting many changes in how work is organised and executive and companies have experimented in different ways. Concerning workers themselves, many social indicators, as well as labour movements in different countries, show that the contract with employers is changing.
This meeting followed by a luncheon will be the first opportunity in a long time for EuroCham members to meet in person, to share their experiences during Covid and their strategies for the future. The occasion will also allow members to discover first-hand the new work designs and policies implemented at Unilever’s campus in Singapore. The session is graciously hosted by Rong Shang Cheong and the HR team at Unilever.

Rongshang Cheon, Head of HR Singapore and Global HRBP Personal Care – Unilever
Cheong Rong Shang (Rong) is currently Head of HR Singapore and HRBP Personal Care. A born and bred Singaporean, she first joined Unilever in 2011 as one of the pioneer batches of the prestigious Unilever Future Leaders Programme. She has since taken on an array of local, regional and global HR roles across geographies and expertise such as HR Business Partnering, Leadership Development, Employer Branding and Rewards based out of Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam and Australia. As the first Singaporean leading HR in Singapore (1 of 3 Global Hubs of Unilever), she is committed to understanding cultural nuances to get the best out of Asian talents. In her capacity as a Head of HR Singapore, one of her key goals is to amplify Singapore Hub as a lever for developing Asian Talents for the Global arena.
Outside the world of Unilever, Rong loves spending time with her family and cook a delicious plate of a local delight; Hokkien Prawn Mee. An avid sports lover and a proud aunt of a beautiful baby nephew, Rong believes that there’s no such thing as a dull moment.
Dr Bob Aubrey, Chair of the Eurocham Human Development Committee
Dr Bob Aubrey is Chairman of the Human Development Committee of the European Chamber of Commerce in Singapore. He is also the Founder and Chair of the Advisory Board of the ASEAN Human Development Organisation (AHDO). He has led a varied career as a business consultant, entrepreneur, writer and teacher. He has lived in the USA, Europe, China and Singapore and his work has taken him to more than 25 countries across 6 continents. He is an award-winning consultant working with Asian and European multinationals on leadership acceleration, organisations, learning and the human development function. As a business school professor, he has taught Europe, China, Australia and Singapore. As a writer, he has published 14 books translated into 9 languages on the theme of leadership, learning, human development and the future of work. He is currently writing The Ethics of ASEAN in partnership with the ASEAN University Network and has recently published Human Development Careers: Leading the Future of Work (2020), Leading Human Development in ASEAN (2019), Measure of Man (2015). He has written numerous studies and white papers for international organisations. Bob Aubrey has a PhD in philosophy from the University of Paris and an MBA from Neoma business school.
