Karina Ufert
EuroCham Myanmar

Karina Ufert is a senior executive with over 12 years of global experience spanning diverse sectors, including business, NGOs, and consulting. She has spearheaded transformative initiatives to enhance sustainable practices across supply chains in industries such as food and beverages, consumer goods, and fashion.

As CEO of the European Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar, Karina represents 162 major European investors, predominantly Fortune 500 companies from Europe. Under her leadership, EuroCham Myanmar transitioned from an EU-funded project to a profitable, self-funded business association. In response to the political crisis of February 2021, she revitalized the Chamber’s operations, focusing on strategic communication and stakeholder alliances, and doubled the membership. Her team provides business advisory services, assisting members in navigating challenges and supporting their due diligence practices in Myanmar. Karina is one of the co-initiators of the €3 million EU-funded project MADE in Myanmar. This project engages 200 manufacturers supplying the EU, setting new sustainability standards in Myanmar’s apparel industry.

Before her role with EuroCham Myanmar, Karina held senior consulting positions at international organisations such as the International Trade Center and Rabobank Development, advising on value chain and financial sector development in emerging markets across Asia, Northern Africa, and the Middle East. As a serial entrepreneur and business advisor, she raised over EUR 10 million in grants, equity, and loans to enable value chain transformation in the agri-food sector, including setting up the first GOTS-certified organic cotton supply chain in Myanmar for export to India.

Before Myanmar, Karina spent several years in Brussels leading one of the largest European lobby groups—the European Students’ Union, representing 17 million students. She also provided advisory services on higher education, research, and employment policies to national governments and international organisations such as UNESCO and the OECD.
