Electric Vehicles (EV) have the potential to reshape the transportation sector and beyond, drastically cutting carbon emissions and clearing the way for significant climate progress. Many companies in the industry see a huge opportunity and are channelling efforts to capture a piece of this space. To support this transformation, significant investments in infrastructure, vehicle tech and critical car components have also been made.

Although adoption of EVs is still in its early stages, it is crucial to ensure the efforts made bear fruit. A successful process of adoption requires clarity in the consumers‘ minds (B2B & B2C) with respect to the various moving elements around EV. Leaders of the industry need to step forward and guide, not just their organisation but the industry as a whole. They are the pacesetters who should navigate us through these complexities.
In the session, we explore different views on the following questions:


  • Two-wheelers and three-wheelers are at the forefront of EV adoption. What are the pain points that need to be addressed in the space of person vehicles to make EV adoption as successful?
  • Are EVs, in the space of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, a chicken-and-egg dilemma arising from the conflict of interests between EV users and the infrastructure investors?

The role of technology

  • What can location technology do and why is it important for EV?
  • Why is there still a lot of ambiguity and anxiety when it comes to location data technology and how does it impact the adoption process of EV?
  • B2B consumers like logistic companies have reached higher levels of adoption compared to B2C consumers. Route mechanism, fleet management systems and location technology are relatively easily deployed in the trade industry.

But what about the B2C consumer? Is the main concern of electric car ownership still range anxiety? How can current technology be used to balance critical parameters like location, charging, range, swapping outlet etc?

Industry challenges

  • Some industry players are pivoting in view of customers’ concerns but others face too many hurdles. What are the solutions and will these solutions fit all players?
  • Will industry partners like OEMs be willing to continue to invest in the development of EVs when the adoption process is slow?

Deep Gaur
Product Portfolio Management for South-East Asia
HERE Technologies

Deep Gaur heads Product Portfolio Management for South East Asia at HERE Technologies and is based out of Singapore. His Professional carrier spans over 15 Years in Business Development, Product Design and Product Management.  He has worked with HERE Technologies for over 10 years, in strategic markets across North America, India and South Asia. He has been instrumental in laying the product portfolio foundation for sustainable market growth and winning strategic large deals for HERE.In his current role, he focuses on creating and rolling out the Portfolio Roadmap and Strategy for HERE in SEA, working closely with key customers and partners and helping them leverage the full potential of Location technologies to drive positive business outcomes. Prior to HERE, Deep has worked with Sun Microsystems, Oracle, and General Motors.



Mark Tan
Head of National Electric Vehicle Centre
Land and Transport Authority (LTA)

Mark heads the National Electrical Vehicle Centre at Singapore’s Land Transport Authority. He holds a concurrent appointment as Director, Futures and Transformation at the Ministry of Transport. Formed in March 2021, the NEVC serves as a one-stop programme office to drive EV adoption through planning for EV charging infrastructure; setting of regulations and standards; and cultivating a vibrant EV industry and research eco-system. Mark has previously worked in various areas of government as a trade diplomat, urban planner, and community organiser.



Abhijit Sengupta
Director and Head of Business, India, SAARC Region & Southeast Asia 
HERE Technologies

Abhijit Sengupta is the Director and Head of Business, India, SAARC region & Southeast Asia at Here Technologies. Based out of Singapore, Abhijit brings over two decades of experience in Sales and Business Development, Product Management and Product Operations. He has been driving customer successes in the B2B and B2C segments with market-leading organisations in India and Southeast Asia. Abhijit has extensive experience in working in the start-up phase in the Indian Telecom and communications sector and has led some “first to the industry” and “first to the market” product launches. In the last 12 years with HERE Technologies, Abhijit has led Product Management and Product Operations to launch the map and location content in high-growth Southeast Asia and India markets. Having worked with many key customers in the region, Abhijit has led thought leadership in defining Product and Content Strategy for the India and Southeast Asia markets. While Abhijit is mandated to drive growth for HERE Technologies in India, SAARC region and Southeast Asia, he is also working with various stakeholders in the ecosystem to drive value and outcome. A regular speaker in many industry forums, Abhijit believes that the world around us has to handle more and more data in the connected environment, location technology is the key and will help us to usher the Autonomous world. 


Goh Chee Kiong

Goh Chee Kiong is the CEO of Charge+, a leading EV charging solution provider for Singapore and the region. As the green mobility arm of Sunseap Group, Charge+ is implementing 10,000 charging points across Singapore by 2030.

Prior to Charge+, Chee Kiong served as the CEO for New Energies in SP Group. Chee Kiong’s first career was with the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) where he served for two decades and led the development of the cleantech, urban solutions and infrastructure sectors in Singapore. In 2014, Chee Kiong received the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) for his public service. 

Chee Kiong has been a longstanding advocate in the cleantech and sustainability sectors and is a regular contributor in conferences and the media. He currently sits on the board of the Energy Studies Institute (ESI).


Mats Nilsson
Director – APAC Central
Volvo Buses

Mats is from Sweden and has a background of over 26 years in the commercial vehicle industry. He has worked in numerous functions such as Purchasing, Sales, Strategic and Product Planning and General Management. He has lived in 8 countries and currently heads Volvo Buses’ APAC Central region out of Singapore.



Ricky Tay
Managing Director
Volkswagen Group Singapore Pte Ltd

Ricky Tay has been the Managing Director of Volkswagen Group Singapore since 1 January 2016. Mr Tay, a Singaporean, has worked in the automotive industry for over 30 years, of which the last 16 were with the Volkswagen Group. After taking on the role as Regional Manager at Volkswagen Group Singapore from 2000 to 2001, Mr Tay took on the responsibility for developing the dealership network in China with Shanghai Volkswagen as Deputy Sales Director, achieving a sales average of 400,000 units per year, including setting a record of 441,000 units in 2008. In his following role as Managing Director of Volkswagen Group Malaysia, Mr Tay was responsible for developing business in the region, where he achieved a 164 per cent sales increase in 2011, with a significant improvement in market share. He is the first Singaporean to head Volkswagen Group Singapore since it began directly managing its retail business here in 2007. Volkswagen Group Singapore remains the only dealership in Singapore to manage its retail business directly. The commitment to continue meeting customers’ wishes for individual and affordable mobility remains a key focus for the Group. Today, its portfolio of brands includes ŠKODA, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and its used car division, Das WeltAuto.




Scott Tan
Principal Director and Public Sector Strategy Lead 

Scott is currently Principal Director and Public Sector Strategy Lead for Accenture in SouthEast Asia, with a recent focus on digital health and sustainability.

Scott has over 15 years of experience as a strategist and design thinking practitioner working across the US, UK, Hong Kong and Singapore, helping drive digital transformation and redesign operating model and service experiences often at the industry or state/national level.

Before joining Accenture, he has held various public sector policy and strategy roles, incubating public-private digital transformation offices across key sectors like trade and health as part of the Singapore Government’s Smart Nation initiatives, and helped design the digital transformation training curriculum for senior public sector leaders.
