The EW Baker Centre for Law & Business (EWBCLB) (National University of Singapore, Faculty of Law) and the Oxford Intellectual Property Research Centre (OIPRC) (University of Oxford, Faculty of Law) have organised a two-day public conference on Design Law Reform on 19 and 20 September 2017 in Singapore.
The Conference is being co-sponsored by UK IPO with participation from the Ministry of Law in Singapore. It will bring together academics, practitioners and representatives from IP offices (as well as designers and speakers from the creative industries) to discuss design law reform in the ASEAN region as well as Australia/NZ, the EU and the UK.
Conference sessions will fall broadly into five main categories:
-The importance of design: Design and business perspective
-The relationship between registered and unregistered rights
-Subject matter of design protection
-Challenges of designs embodying a technical function
-The international reform agenda
-Professor Simon Chesterman, Dean, NUS Law
-His Excellency Scott Wightman, British High Commissioner to Singapore
-Ms Indranee Rajah, Senior Minister of State (SMS) for Law and Finance
-RT Hon Matt Hancock MP, UK Parliament
