Synopsis

EuroCham is organising an event on the theme of “Ethical and Responsible AI”. Our primary objective is to stimulate discussions and raise awareness across various industries regarding the critical importance of adopting responsible and ethical AI practices. 

During the event, we will explore the significant individual and corporate responsibilities associated with AI implementation, using case studies to examine sectors such as pharmaceuticals, banking and insurance, drawing attention to recent incidents. 

The panel discussion will feature experts in AI, guiding participants through the dynamic regulatory landscape and offering insights into global guidelines from regions like China, Singapore and the EU. This event will provide attendees a unique opportunity to directly engage with experts, contributing to solutions for ethical & responsible AI.

Dr Lovneesh Chanana
Chair of the Digital Economy Committee, European Chamber of Commerce (Singapore)
Senior Vice President and Regional Head for Government Affairs, Asia Pacific and Japan, SAP

Dr Lovneesh Chanana leads the public policy, government programs and thought leadership engagements for SAP in Asia Pacific and Japan. A known thought leader in policy and program-level application of technology, Dr Lovneesh has been contributing to the development of the technology policy landscape and leading many transformative government programs and projects. Working closely with industry bodies, where he leads and drives the digital economy agenda, Dr Lovneesh has been contributing to knowledge sharing around technology developments and policies around cloud, SMEs, sustainability, artificial intelligence, workforce skilling, entrepreneurship and innovation. He has been instrumental in structuring and forging Government-industry partnerships to create a conducive digital ecosystem in many Asian countries. He has also been contributing to the capacity building of Government officials and has designed and developed training programs in various areas related to technology programs in Government. He works passionately with academia and has been contributing to ensuring the industry readiness of youth and students through curriculum design and delivery.

Dr Chanana holds a Ph.D. in Information Systems Management with a research focus on Mobile Governance.

 

Speaker & Moderator

Barbara Crane
Co-Chair of the Digital Economy Committee
European Chamber of Commerce (Singapore)

With over 25 years of extensive experience spanning Consulting, Technology, Cloud and Financial Services, Barbara has established herself as a seasoned leader. Notably, she led the data-driven transformation practice at KPMG, following impactful Sales Leadership roles at Google and SAP. Prior to her consultancy roles, Barbara honed her expertise during a 15-year tenure in Investment and Transaction Banking, holding pivotal positions at prestigious institutions such as HSBC, BNP Paribas and RBS (now Natwest Markets), where her experience crossed business and operational domains. She was also recently seconded as interim wholesale banking CDO at Standard Chartered.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Barbara is also a certified college lecturer, leveraging her expertise to empower adult learners.  She further extends her educational influence by conducting board and executive awareness sessions. Barbara is passionate about organisational transformation and indeed published an academic project on the barriers to transformation, contributed to the journal of sales transformation and recently contributed to a book on sales transformation from a practitioner’s perspective with fellow professionals with a passion for academia.

Andrew Matthews studied Communication Engineering and Computer Science in Melbourne. Over the course of the last 25 years, he has been actively engaged in various domains including System development, Cybersecurity, Intelligence systems, and Critical infrastructure vulnerability assessments and protection. His expertise extends across the Civil, Security, and Defense sectors, spanning the Asia Pacific, the United States, and Europe. Currently, he is the Business Development lead for AI Quality in TUV SUD Digital Services.

 

Karthik Ashok
Founder and CEO
Dligence

Karthik is the Founder and CEO of Dligence, a first of its kind regulatory data asset company, focusing on minimizing the regulatory redundancy in the banking and financial services industry.  He is the inventor of a unique approach to data processing using AI/ML and complex probabilistic decision trees. The patented approach enables data mastering and insights generation without human intervention.

Karthik has over 20 years’ experience working for Corporate and Institutional banks in New York and Singapore. He last held the title of Head of Platform Strategy for Digital Banking and Data Analytics at Standard Chartered Bank, where he defined the technology investment roadmap and strategy for the bank’s digital channels.  He is a technology leader and entrepreneur who has successfully setup ground up operations and rolled out transformational change across large enterprises and banks. He has deep expertise in enterprise technologies and has delivered several platforms across large enterprises. He has served as an advisor in multiple start-up and regulatory councils.

 

Dr Nuri Purswani
Director, Data Strategy
Mastercard
 
Dr. Nuri Purswani is a data analytics professional passionate about harnessing the power of data and AI for social impact. Holding a PhD in Biological Image Processing from the University of Cambridge and an MSc in Bioinformatics from Imperial College London, she has utilized her expertise to drive impactful projects globally. Dr. Nuri has developed data analytics tools for disease surveillance and reporting during the 2015 West Africa Ebola outbreak. She also spearheaded the creation of machine learning algorithms for salary decisions at IBM Singapore and contributed to geospatial analytics and sustainability initiatives at Visa, earning patents for her innovative solutions. Her papers on ESG and Responsible AI governance have further solidified her expertise, culminating in her win at the 2021 Veritas Hackathon on Fairness in AI, organized by the Monetary Authority of Singapore. Currently, Dr. Nuri serves as a member of Mastercard’s Global Chief Data Office, where she continues to advocate for responsible data practices and AI responsibility principles.

 

Dr Ramine Tinati
Managing Director / ASEAN Chief Data Scientist

Dr Ramine is based in Singapore and part of the Strategy and Consulting Group for Accenture, leading the Applied Intelligence Data Science + Machine Learning Practice in SEA, and is responsible for the SEA Centre for Advanced AI. Dr Ramine has an extensive background in researching, building, and delivering industrialized Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence solutions. Previously, Dr Ramine was a lead Data Scientist for Microsoft Consulting Services’ Delivery Data Science practice, and also the APAC AI/ML SME for Amazon Web Services. Dr Ramine holds a PhD, MSc and BSc in Computer Science (and Web Science), from the University of Southampton, UK.

Step 2: Before the event, an email will be sent at least 2 days before to the attendees to confirm their attendance and inform them about the event details. Please check your spam folder if you do not receive this email.

Step 3: Please reply to the second confirmation email with your confirmation of attendance so we know that you have received the relevant information and are still attending.

Step 4: Please arrive on time for registration for the event. We will only admit attendees who have made full payment to the event.
