Sim Ann is the Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Development. She is a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Holland-Bukit Timah GRC.
Education and early career
Sim Ann was educated at Hwa Chong Junior College from 1992 to 1993. In 1997, she obtained a B.A (Honours) from Oxford University. She was awarded an M.A from Stanford University in 2009. Sim Ann has also obtained a Graduate Diploma in Translation and Interpretation from the Nanyang Technological University. Sim Ann started her career in 1998 as an Assistant Director for Finance Policy and Planning at the Ministry of Health.
From 2000 to 2003, she worked at the Ministry of Home Affairs as an Assistant Director for Implementation Planning, before moving to the Ministry of Trade and Industry, where she was Deputy Director for Trade until 2006. Between 2007 and 2009, she was the Regional Director (East China) for IE Singapore and in 2009, she became the Director for the National Population Secretariat. She left the Civil Service in 2011.
Sim Ann first stepped into the political arena when she contested in the Holland-Bukit Timah GRC during the 2011 General Elections. She is currently the MP for the Holland-Bukit Timah GRC as one of the four-member People’s Action Party (PAP) team led by Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan. The other PAP members are Christopher de Souza and Edward Chia.

Jens Rübbert is the Regional Head Asia/Pacific of Landesbank Baden-Württemberg (LBBW) residing in Singapore.
Before he joined LBBW in January 2018, Jens Rübbert worked for Deutsche Bank from 1991 until 2017 in several senior positions and in various countries such as Germany (1991 – 1996 and 2001 – 2009), Hong Kong (1996/97), Singapore (1997 – 2000) and Turkey (2000/01). Before his current and second assignment in Singapore, he was Head of Large Caps Coverage/ Corporate Finance at Stuttgart Hub (2005 – 2009), Chief Operating Officer for Deutsche Bank in China (2009 – 2014) and Chief Country Officer for Deutsche Bank in Vietnam (2014 – 2017). Jens holds a degree in business administration.
Besides, Jens Rübbert was Vice Chairman of the European Chamber of Commerce in China (2011 – 2014), Chairman of the German Business Association in Vietnam (2015 – 2017) and Chairman of the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (2017).
Currently, Jens Rübbert is President of the Singaporean-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (since March 2020), Vice President of EuroCham Singapore (since July 2020) as well as Vice Chairman of the EU-ASEAN Business Council (since June 2022) and Member of the Board of Directors of the German Asia-Pacific Business Association/ OAV (since December 2018).
In 2021 Jens Rübbert was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany (“Bundesverdienstkreuz am Bande”).
Meet the Venue Host
CEO and Head of Wholesale Banking, Asia Pacific
Anju, a seasoned banker with 30 years of banking experience, joined ING on 1 November 2021 as Head of Wholesale Banking Asia Pacific. In this role, she drives ING’s Wholesale Banking strategy for Asia Pacific, and is responsible for the performance of 11 markets across the region, namely Australia, China, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam.
Prior to ING, she spent three years in the venture capital space, and co-founded a VC fund with a focus on investing in technology and digital-first businesses in the US and Asia.
Before her foray into investing, Anju worked in senior leadership roles in global banks in Singapore, Sydney, New York, Hong Kong SAR and India. She has deep experience in corporate and investment banking, particularly in the areas of business origination, debt capital markets, credit, risk and governance and asset restructuring.
Anju’s previous banking role before ING was at Westpac Institutional Bank as Chief Risk Officer. Before Westpac, she was with Bank of America (BofA) for almost 16 years and worked in New York and Asia. Her roles at BofA included Senior Risk Executive and Head of Corporate Debt Products for APAC.
Anju holds an MBA from the University of Delhi and a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Chemistry from St Stephen’s College of the University of Delhi.
