Synopsis
In the fast-evolving landscape of modern transportation, the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Smart Mobility has become a transformative force.
Our upcoming event aims to delve deeply into the profound influence of AI on Smart Mobility as “Software Defined Vehicles” (SDVs) are more common in coming years.
This knowledge-sharing session will facilitate the exchange of insights and experiences related to the application of AI based technologies in the field of Smart Mobility, including software use in the automobile industry and shared mobility concepts.
During the event, industry leaders will showcase pioneering AI-driven projects, products, and services that are revolutionising urban transportation in Singapore. Attendees will also receive updates on the government’s strides in realising the Smart Mobility 2030 strategy and engage in discussions about AI-related challenges.
In addition to exploring these critical themes, the event aims to provide a platform for industry professionals, policymakers, and researchers to network, collaborate, and forge beneficial partnerships.

Niels de Boer

Niels de Boer joined NTU as a Senior Scientist in the Energy Research Institute (ERI@N). He is currently the Chief Operating Officer of ERI@N, and also the Senior Programme Director of the Centre of Excellence for Testing & Research of Autonomous Vehicles – NTU (CETRAN).
Prior to joining NTU, Niels has a long track record of delivering R&D projects in Industry. His experience includes work on automotive powertrain development in Delphi Singapore where he was responsible for software development and was also part of the global core team which developed processes to ensure software quality. Subsequently, he was responsible for automotive infotainment platform development and research in automotive infotainment systems in Siemens-VDO/Continental.
After working in the automotive field, Niels moved to a more research-based environment where he was responsible as R&D Director for the development of electrical drivetrains for Vestas and later, for research on electrical systems such as the wind turbine drivetrain and the wind farm and grid connectivity.
Prior to his current role, Niels was Technology Quality Manager at Lloyd’s Register where he was responsible for ensuring that the outputs of all research globally relating to Energy Technology meet business objectives. This included the development of certification requirements and certification assessment methodologies.

Bart Sweerman
Senior Vice President, Global Services & Support

Bart Sweerman is a member of the global Operating Committee, based at our head office in Amsterdam. He leads the world-wide Services & Support organization for HERE Technologies: 300 people across 22 countries, speaking 19 languages. The organization includes industry advisory services, professional services, technical support and customer success. These teams help customers unlock and capture the value of location intelligence, with a focus on automotive, transportation & logistics and technology, media & telecommunications.
Bart has more than 25 years of consulting and corporate experience, at the intersection of strategy and technology. Prior to HERE, he was Director, Digital Transformation at global management consultancy firm Kearney and he spent nearly 15 years at Cisco in various international leadership roles e.g., Executive Board Member for Cisco Europe ($9 billion revenue). He started his career at Professor Michael Porter’s strategy consulting firm Monitor Company (now Monitor Deloitte).
Bart received his MSc in Economics from Erasmus University in Rotterdam, and he completed his military service as a Lieutenant in the Royal Netherlands Navy. He has Dutch nationality but grew up in Palo Alto, California and has worked and lived in the Netherlands, US, UK, Germany, Abu Dhabi and India.
Yap Kok Hoong

Yap Kok Hoong is a passionate and forward-thinking technical leader with 17+ years of experience in the software industry.
As a Project Manager of the CTO Office for Continental Automotive, Kok Hoong has played a pivotal role in leading the Software Defined Vehicle activities in the Asia region. He drives collaboration with corporate companies, academia, and car manufacturers.
Prior to his current role, Kok Hoong led the joint R&D team on autonomous vehicle technology with EasyMile. In this role, he led the research and development of a multi-sensor AI-based perception system. He thoroughly enjoyed driving the data acquisition vehicle to capture the landmarks of Singapore.
Kok Hoong’s professional journey leading up to his role at Continental is a testament to his diverse experience. He embarked on his career in the consumer electronics industry, ventured into the dynamic world of gaming and computing with a multinational company, and gained valuable insights into the financial industry through his time working in a bank.
Spanning an immersive 11-years at Continental, boredom has never been a factor. Now, he has rediscovered his purpose through Software Defined Vehicle, which represents the next evolution in the automotive industry.

Markus Schuster
Managing Director, Audi Singapore
Board Member and Co-Chair of Smart Mobility Committee, European Chamber of Commerce
Markus Schuster is the Managing Director of Audi Singapore since August 2019.
Prior to this appointment, Schuster has been working for the brand in Germany and Italy in several functions including sales, marketing and business development. Among other projects during his time with Audi in Europe, he has been part of major new product introductions including the Audi RS 6 and the first-ever Audi R8, models that took the brand to new competitive environments.
The first public event Schuster hosted in Singapore was the debut of the Audi e-tron, the brand’s first fully electric premium SUV. He has since used the Audi e-tron daily, gaining first-hand experience of living with an EV. Today, the brand offers a growing portfolio of fully electric models, which includes the Audi e-tron, e-tron Sportback and the flagship grand touring sports car, the e-tron GT and the RS e-tron GT.
Markus also currently serves on the Board of the European Chamber of Commerce, Singapore.
