Message from EuroCham President

President of European Chamber of Commerce (Singapore)

Dear Members, and Friends of the European Business Community,

It is my privilege to welcome you to the European Business Directory 2016. Continuing the tradition, the Directory contains over 2,200 European company listings, asserting once more the strength and depth of European businesses in Singapore.

Singapore represents one of the major backbones of ASEAN and a business hub for European companies in the region. Thanks to its state-of-the-art infrastructure, economic productivity and political stability, Singapore remains an attractive investment destination for European firms. To date, there are approximately 11 000 European companies in Singapore. European firms are diverse, as is the nature of the economic bloc from where they come. Our diversity is reflected through representation by industries as dissimilar and necessary as electronics, financial services, food, theatre and the arts, automotive, education and many more. The complex patchwork of differing yet complementary European businesses in Singapore indicates not only the scale of our involvement in our adopted country but also the depth and age of our presence.

EuroCham will celebrate its 15th anniversary this year, serving as a vessel for European businesses to engage and build constructive business partnerships in Singapore and the ASEAN region. EuroCham's role as an interlocutor for a more conducive economic environment becomes more pivotal as we spearhead deeper dialogues and meetings with local institutions, government agencies and relevant stakeholders. We are proud to be engaged in many advocacy initiatives, and look forward to engaging in more.

I would like to take this occasion to express my appreciation, on behalf of the Chamber, for the gracious support offered from both individuals and companies in the past year -- especially that of our committed GOLD and corporate members, the European National Business Groups, the EU Delegation to Singapore, the authorities in the Singapore Government and all its subsidiaries with whom we have worked closely with, as well as the ever-growing number of European Chambers of Commerce in the ASEAN region. I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to my colleagues on the Board of EuroCham Singapore, and as well as our sponsors, for their unrelenting commitment in driving forward the interests of our multi-faceted European business community in Singapore.
