On 7 December 2021, EU and Singapore announced the intention to strengthen their digital ties with a view of advancing towards a comprehensive EU-Singapore digital partnership. This marks the EU and Singapore’s shared vision of bringing their strong bilateral trade partnership into the digital future, building on the entry into force of the EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement in 2019.
The EU and Singapore’s efforts aim at ensuring that workers and businesses, especially small and medium enterprises, benefit from opportunities in the growing global digital economy and in a fast-changing world.
The closed-door event will serve as a platform to discuss ideas to further strengthen EU-Singapore digital cooperation in a dialogue with a wide range of stakeholders. The dialogue would cover topics ranging from how digital transformation has had a profound impact on workers, businesses and societies, to how the EU-Singapore digital partnership could support resilience of supply chains amongst other things. More details to follow soon.
