Green Economy

Connecting European businesses, policymakers and ecosystem partners around green finance, energy security and the circular economy.

GREEN ECONOMY COMMITTEE OVERVIEW

The transition to a green economy has become a defining priority for governments, businesses and societies worldwide, as climate change, resource scarcity, biodiversity loss and energy security reshape global growth models. Across industries, companies are increasingly expected to reduce emissions, improve resource efficiency, strengthen climate resilience and embed sustainability into business strategy, operations and supply chains. The European Union has placed the green transition at the centre of its long-term competitiveness agenda through the European Green Deal, intending to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 and drive progress in areas such as clean energy, circular economy, sustainable finance, carbon markets and responsible production.

In Singapore, the Green Plan 2030 sets out a whole-of-nation approach to sustainable development, supporting the country’s ambition to advance green growth, build climate resilience and position itself as a leading hub for sustainability and green finance in Asia. Together, these developments create strong opportunities for EU-Singapore cooperation in accelerating decarbonisation, scaling green innovation and supporting a more sustainable, competitive and resilient economy.

GREEN ECONOMY COMMITTEE MISSION

To support EU-Singapore cooperation on the green transition by connecting European businesses, policymakers and ecosystem partners around green finance, energy security, the circular economy and responsible business practices.

COMMITTEE OBJECTIVES

EuroCham Singapore Green Economy Committee objectives for 2026 are to advance green finance and investment mobilisation, supporting dialogue on the bankability of green projects, access to EU funding mechanisms, and the mobilisation of private and institutional capital to accelerate sustainable investments.

The Committee also aims to strengthen energy security and decarbonisation pathways, facilitating industry exchange on Singapore’s evolving energy landscape, including legacy systems, new infrastructure, forward-looking energy scenarios and grid connectivity, with a focus on practical pathways for decarbonisation.

In addition, the Committee works to accelerate the circular economy transition, promoting discussion on unlocking the value of waste, improving waste management and supporting the shift from linear to circular economic models across industries. It supports broader sustainability and responsible business practices, enabling conversations on social sustainability, business and human rights, decent work, gender representation and nature-related issues as part of a more holistic green economy agenda. Finally, the Committee builds stronger public-private and cross-sector collaboration, serving as a trusted platform for engagement between European companies, Singapore government agencies, financial institutions, sustainability partners and other EuroCham committees to support meaningful action on the green transition.
