EDUCATION & HUMAN CAPITAL COMMITTEE OVERVIEW
Education and human capital development have become central to global competitiveness as economies adapt to digital transformation, AI adoption, demographic shifts, green transition needs and evolving workforce expectations. Across the world, governments and businesses are placing greater emphasis on lifelong learning, skills-based pathways, talent mobility and stronger links between education and industry.
The European Union is advancing this agenda through its Union of Skills, which focuses on upskilling, reskilling, talent attraction and workforce competitiveness, while Singapore continues to strengthen its lifelong learning and workforce development ecosystem through initiatives such as SkillsFuture and broader efforts to build a more resilient, adaptable and future-ready workforce. Together, these priorities create strong opportunities for EU-Singapore cooperation in education, talent development, skills recognition and workforce transformation.
EDUCATION & HUMAN CAPITAL COMMITTEE MISSION
To support the development of a future-ready, inclusive and globally competitive workforce by strengthening dialogue between European businesses, education providers and public-sector stakeholders in Singapore.
COMMITTEE OBJECTIVES
EuroCham Singapore Education & Human Capital Committee objectives for 2026 are to support workforce upskilling and transformation by facilitating dialogue on how businesses can adapt to changing workforce needs, including the impact of AI, digitalisation, new skills requirements and evolving career pathways; strengthen international mobility and talent development by promoting discussion on talent attraction, workforce mobility and skills recognition, supporting Singapore’s role as a regional hub for international business and talent; prepare talent for the future of work by bridging education and industry perspectives to better understand how students, graduates and professionals can be equipped with the skills needed for a fast-changing economy; and build stronger public-private and cross-sector collaboration by engaging stakeholders including the Ministry of Manpower, Ministry of Education, Economic Development Board and Enterprise Singapore, alongside EuroCham’s Digital Economy and Financial Services Committees, on shared priorities around talent, skills and transformation.
