EuroCham Singapore Launches New Strategic Security And Aerospace Committee

Singapore, 4 September 2026: Today, the European Chamber of Commerce (EuroCham) Singapore launched its new Strategic Security & Aerospace Committee, with Singapore’s Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs and Senior Minister of State for Defence, Mr Zaqy Mohamad, attending as Guest of Honour.

Held at the Airbus Singapore Campus, the launch brought together more than 100 guests from across sectors such as aerospace and defence, banking and finance, energy, automotive, risk and security, technology, consulting, legal services and academia. EuroCham also welcomed diplomatic representatives including His Excellency Sadık Arslan, Ambassador of Türkiye to Singapore, and Ms Joyleen Santos, Minister and Consul General at the Philippine Embassy in Singapore, as well as representatives of the embassies of France, Lithuania and Switzerland, and the British High Commission in Singapore as guests. 

Acting Minister Zaqy Mohamad delivered remarks ahead of the Committee’s formal launch ceremony. The event also featured remarks from Mr Philipp Dupuis, Head of the Economic and Trade Section, European Union Delegation to Singapore; Mr Anand Stanley, President and Head of Region, Airbus Asia-Pacific; and Mr Jens Rübbert, President of EuroCham Singapore.

In his remarks, Acting Minister Zaqy Mohamad highlighted that a strong web of trusted partnerships is a strategic advantage in a more contested world. He said: “The Committee can become another node to connect our established defence and aerospace relationships with the wider strategic-security ecosystem… Stronger connections allow our companies, engineers, researchers and innovators to build the familiarity and trust to grow the next generation of Singapore-Europe strategic security partnerships. The technologies and companies that shape our security may change, but the importance of trusted partnerships will not.”

The launch takes place ahead of two milestones in 2027: the 50th anniversary of EU–ASEAN Dialogue Relations and Singapore’s chairmanship of ASEAN. With 14,000 European businesses currently operating in Singapore, the Committee aims to help businesses better understand strategic developments affecting their operations by connecting global economic shifts, industrial developments and resilience challenges with their practical business implications.

Speaking about the launch of the new Committee, EuroCham Singapore President Jens Rübbert said: “As we celebrate 25 years of EuroCham Singapore as the Voice of European Business in Singapore, the more time I spend in the Chamber, the more I see that trust is the most valuable thing we build. Our members trust us to listen to the challenges and opportunities they face, and our partners and government bodies trust us to bring those perspectives forward constructively. Our Committees reflect the questions our members are facing now, or may face in the future. As security and resilience increasingly become boardroom conversations, this Committee creates a practical, cross-sector space for businesses to discuss the strategic issues shaping their decisions.”

The Committee’s work will focus on three areas: Security and Resilience, Global Economic Shifts, and Aerospace, Defence and Space; and, similarly to all EuroCham Committees, it will convene regularly for executive-level discussions and closed-door dialogues with industry business leaders and policymakers.
