EuroCham’s members are invited to attend a breakfast discussion on the 25th of May at the EU Delegation of Singapore with Mr. David Martin, European Parliament rapporteur on the EU Free Trade Agreement with Singapore. His Singapore visit takes place just after the scheduled release of the Court’s opinion on 16 May 2017. The breakfast discussion will give an opportunity for members to exchange views with Mr. Martin on the implementation of the EUSFTA. There will be a particular focus on sustainable development, labour and environmental practices. Mr Martin will use this session to lay the groundwork within the Parliament in preparation for the EUSFTA’s ratification.
About Mr. David Martin
David Martin is Scotland’s most senior European Member of Parliament (MEP).
He has been a Member of the European Parliament since 1984 and represents Scotland. He is the UK’s longest-serving MEP. He was Vice President (1989 – 2004) and latterly Senior Vice-President of the European Parliament with special responsibility for relations with national parliaments and parliaments of constitutional regional Assemblies. He was Leader of the British Labour delegation from 1987-88.
His areas of interest include development and aid for trade, global access to medicine, human rights, institutional reform and animal welfare.
He is currently European Parliament rapporteur on the EU Free Trade Agreement with Singapore and on the proposed Investment Agreement with Myanmar.
