Human Development Strategies in ASEAN Part II - Launch of EuroCham HR White Paper
On 1st December 2015, Tuesday, EuroCham is proud to hold an event especially dedicated to Human Development Strategies in ASEAN.
The upcoming regional integration of ASEAN raises the question of potential unity within the great variety of religions, cultures and political systems across ASEAN countries. This might reminds us of the unification of the European Countries, “unity in diversity”.
However, the ASEAN starting point and ambition for regional integration is not to copy the model of the European Union but to draw some lessons from the European experience. Indeed, the E.U. might provide a legal framework for work and higher education, as European management represents a culture of leadership and indeed a philosophy of capitalism.
On 1st December 2015, Tuesday, EuroCham officially announced the publication of the White Paper: Human Development Priorities for the ASEAN Economic Community and to celebrate, a cocktail followed the one-hour presentation and objectives of the White Paper.
The White Paper is an initiative taken by the members of EuroCham’s HR Committee as the result of exchanges concerning the opportunities and challenges of ASEAN Economic Integration. Once the idea to produce a White Paper decided, EuroCham invited the European Foundation of Management Development (EFMD) to contribute as a partner in carrying out a survey and interviews in Europe.
The objectives of EuroCham and EFMD White Paper are to assess how the European experience of economic integration could contribute to human development policies for ASEAN and to suggest opportunities and priorities for specific initiatives.
For this special event, representatives from major European companies and Universities of Singapore have been invited to share their insight on the successful initiatives coming out of the European experience of economic integration and to share transferable principles and practices with ASEAN stakeholders.
Panelists had an interesting discussion about the findings and recommendations of the White paper. The participants included:
